9th WORLD PLUMBING CONFERENCE - CALL FOR PAPERS
The organizers of the next World Plumbing Conference which will take place in Edinburgh, Scotland from 7-11 September 2011 invite speakers to submit proposals for papers and presentations which might be made at the event.

WPC WELCOMES UN DECLARATION ON WATER AND SANITATION
Chairman of the World Plumbing Council, Robert Burgon, has welcomed the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly on 28 July 2010 of a resolution recognizing access to clean water and sanitation as a human right. The resolution is calling on States and international organizations to provide financial resources, build capacity and transfer technology, particularly to developing countries, in scaling up efforts to provide safe, clean, accessible and affordable drinking water and sanitation for all.

WPC GENERAL MEETING OCTOBER 2010 – BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA
A General Meeting of the World Plumbing Council will be held on Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 October 2010 in the Meeting Room at the Hilton Hotel, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Meeting papers and full Agenda will be circulated to Members closer to the meeting date. For more details, go to the Events page.

WPC PUBLISHES ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECTS OF PLUMBING
The World Plumbing Council is pleased to announce the online publication of the first issue of “Environmental Aspects of Plumbing” (EAP). This publication which has been compiled by WPC Executive Board Directors Blane Judd (UK) and  Richard J Prospal (USA), demonstrates the important role played by today’s plumbing industry in a wide range of environmental issues.

EAP (which is seen as a companion document to the existing WPC/World Health Organisation publication, “Health Aspects of Plumbing” (HAP)), will be updated regularly and future editions will include case study contributions which are now being invited.

REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR 9TH WORLD PLUMBING CONFERENCE- EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND
Registrations and hotel bookings are now being accepted for the 9th World Plumbing Conference to be held in Edinburgh, Scotland from 7-11 September 2011. For details please go to www.wpc2011.co.uk.

WPC LAUNCHES EDUCATION AND TRAINING SCHOLARSHIP FOR 2010
The World Plumbing Council is pleased to invite applications for its 2010 Education and Training Scholarship. The Scholarship (which has been renamed after a review) is available to anyone involved in plumbing industry education and training. The award for 2010, which is worth a maximum of US$10,000, will enable the successful applicant to travel to another country to investigate aspects of industry education and training.
 
WPC Chairman, Robert Burgon commented:” The WPC has previously awarded six Scholarships which have allowed individuals involved in industry training to travel to a range of countries and see how industry training is managed. We have reviewed the terms of the award and believe that this significant Scholarship should lead to benefits for industry education and training worldwide. We look forward to receiving a good number of quality applications before the closing date of 31 July 2010.”

EXECUTIVE BOARD PUBLISHES PROGRESS REPORT
The WPC Executive Board presented its latest Progress Report at the recent meeting of the organization in Sydney, Australia. The Progress Report (which follows an earlier report in September 2009) outlines achievements relating to the Strategic Plan for the organization for the three-year period 2008-2011. The next report is due to be presented to the WPC meeting in Buenos Aires, Argentina in October 2010.
