World Plumbing Council

WorldSkills

The chairman of the World Plumbing Council Stuart Henry met with the President of WorldSkills International Vocational Training Organisation Mr Tjerk (Jack) Dusseldorp in Sydney on the 29th March 2004 to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the two global organizations.

At the ceremony conducted at the Dusseldorp Skills Forum both men strongly endorsed the need for greater investment in vocational education and training as this investment was essential in developing individual and community capacity in all nations of the World. Such investment would also be critical in achieving progress towards sustainable global development and economic progress.

  • Share information, knowledge and networks;
  • Where appropriate co-operate in the establishment of standards for vocational education and training;
  • Consider joint projects in promoting vocational education and training.
  • WPC presentations for World Championship Competition winners.
The establishment of partnerships, such as this with WorldSkills, is a key strategy in the World Plumbing Councils objective to create a global leadership role for the organization and the plumbing industry. Mr Henry went on to say that already WPC enjoys many links with WorldSkills as many of its member organizations are strong supporters of the international WorldSkills competition held every two years.

The Chief Plumbing Expert charged with the responsibility of organising the plumbing competition in Helsinki is Mr John Smart of Dublin Institute of Technology. Mr Smartt also enjoys strong links with the World Plumbing Council having been the inaugural winner of the World Plumbing Council Trainers Scholarship in 2003.

The Dusseldorp Skills Forum (DSF) is an independent, not for profit body with a mission to achieve changes needed to enable all Australians to reach their potential. In particular, the Forum works co-operatively with communities, industry, government and non-government organisations to generate ideas, research, tools and information which will improve the learning and work transitions of young Australians. It finances its own work.
