Our Impact

IWSH

The WPC proudly collaborates with the International Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Foundation (IWSH) on projects that demonstrate the real-world importance of skilled plumbing. Among these, the IWSH Plumbing Champions program has become a standout initiative.

Held alongside major international events – including WorldSkills competitions and the ISH trade fair in Frankfurt – IWSH Plumbing Champions mobilizes young tradespeople, mentors, and manufacturers to build plumbing systems that are later donated and installed in community facilities. These projects transform competition-floor demonstrations into lasting WASH improvements for local organizations. The result – competition materials are given a second life, creating lasting positive change in the community.

Recent IWSH Plumbing Champions efforts have supported community centers, apprenticeship programs, and cultural facilities across Australia, France, Germany, and beyond – strengthening skills development and delivering tangible public-health benefits.

WHO

As a non-governmental organization in official relations with the World Health Organization (WHO), the WPC plays a key role in connecting the international plumbing industry to critical global health initiatives. Together, WPC and WHO collaborate on Plumbing for Health projects designed to strengthen water, sanitation, and hygiene services in healthcare facilities.

In 2024, our Plumbing for Health pilot project in the Philippines delivered essential improvements to plumbing infrastructure in multiple Manila-area healthcare centers – restoring critical water systems, doubling the number of functional toilets in some facilities, resolving drainage challenges, and laying groundwork for long-term water-system upgrades – creating a model for scale-up in other regions and countries.

This collaboration is part of a broader multi-year WHO–WPC engagement aimed at integrating plumbing expertise into WASH-in-Healthcare-Facilities programs around the world.
